HAVE A SAFE TRIP!

SO WHAT EXACTLY IS A ‘CHOUCAS’?

Return to the list

In Les 2 Alpes, there are 2 types of ‘choucas’: a feathered ‘choucas’ - otherwise known as a  jackdaw, and a «Choucas Biker».

The first is a species of passerine bird which is part of the corvidae family. Boasting black plumage, it has two flashes of colour: its bright yellow beak and red claws. Related to the crow, in the Alps it is more commonly known as the CHOUGH.

True JACKDAWS are grey and black and don’t live in the mountains!
You’ve probaby seen one scrounging for leftovers and diving down to pinch a tiny breadcrumb from your table whilst you’ve been having lunch on a restaurant terrace!

The second is native to Les 2 Alpes, and is in fact an association that’s been around since 1999.
It’s made up of 6 friends who are all crazy about mountain biking, and who all share the same wicked sense of humour. When Cédric, Pascal, Thierry, Nicolas, Boris and Pat are around, it’s fun and laughter guaranteed!

In conjunction with the Tourist Office, the Choucas Bikers are co-organisers of the MOUNTAIN OF HELL, which will be taking place for the 18th year from 30th June to 2nd July 2017.
Take a look at our website to find out more about the event !
