This ramble starts from Bons village, which is located below the resort (access in 10 minutes by car). You can park at the entrance of the village on the parking area near the fire-station.
Make your way down to the chapel: the departure for Bons Roman Gate is then well indicated ( “Porte Romaine”). You will follow a small stony path down to the Roman Gate: it stands as testament of the Roman road of Oisans which was built in Augustus Emperor’s era (27 BC to 14 ) and probably used to pass there.
This half monumental arch is today registered as French national monument. For more information about it, don’t hesitate to request the tourist office in Mont de Lans or les Deux Alpes.
Time for the way down / way up: 30 minutes each.
Caution: This path can be slippery and needs good hiking shoes! Some passages can be delicate for children.
